- Module 1: Classroom managementThis module looks at how to manage language classes that are delivered virtually via one of the online platforms designed for the purpose of teaching / learning language online. It describes to teachers how they should effectively manage their classrooms digitally, provides advice on how to manage different types of learners, including and especially young learners, whilst keeping them motivated and engaged. It also offers guidance on how to build rapport and uses the various available tools such as breakout rooms.1
- Module 2- Interaction types in online classesThis module refers to acknowledgment and consideration of otherness which are essential for smooth communication and mutual understanding among people and the importance of skills such as empathy be it in face-to-face or online lessons. Verbal communication often conceals hidden problems, such as individual sensitivity to special words and different assignment of meanings to the same words caused by group differences. The role of the online language instructor is to develop linguistic skills in a medium in which the interaction can often be difficult to define.1
- Module 3 - Teachers' Online professionalismThis module looks at the digital professionalism of teachers and students.It also presents a series of activities and resources for teachers to guide them through virtual space, highlights what behaviors they should actively teach learners through modeling good practices and what are the risks when using an online environment with students especially under the age of 18 years. The focus is on respect towards oneself and others, appropriate and responsible attitudes and behavior and online rights and responsibilities.1
- Module 4 – Creating an online teaching identityThis module aims to present how teachers can create their online teaching identity. It will provide information in regards to: What is a teacher identity, Transition from a face-to-face to an online teaching identity, Important Reminders when teaching online, Possible issues and challenges that may arise and helpful tips for online teaching1
- Module 5: Teacher/student well-beingThis module looks at the relationship between teachers and students to achieve their wellbeing in online education. It will describe to teachers how to keep mentally and physically healthy whilst teaching online as well as how to create a sensitive and communicative environment to project politeness across the digital divide, establishing routines at home or home offices and promoting a close relationship between teachers and students which will facilitate language acquisition.1
